Anchoring a Failing Foundation Wall in Lambton Shores
Challenge
This home’s basement walls had horizontal cracks running which were beginning to bow inward: affecting the structure, stability and safety of the home and its inhabitants.
The horizontal cracks and eventual inward bow most often are the result of extreme pressure from the surrounding soil which exceeds the foundation’s load-bearing limit.
Solution
We offer several options for foundation wall stabilization, and this job required a foundation wall anchoring system, The Geo-Lock™ Channel Anchor System. This permanent system can restore and reinforce the structural integrity of a home.
How it works:
-
Professional engineering is used to determine all aspects of the needed repair.
-
Holes are drilled into the failing foundation walls and lengthy zinc-plated steel anchor rods are inserted.
-
These rods extend into the more stable soils well beyond the home’s foundation.
-
Where these rods end, we install zinc-plated steel Earth anchors, which uses the strength and stability of the untouched soil to reinforce the foundation walls.
-
A steel wall anchor plate is installed on the interior foundation walls.
-
The channel anchor is mounted onto the foundation floor providing optimal bracing and protection from future wall movement.
-
Once the system is tightened, the foundation walls are then structurally sound once again.
The installation process usually takes only a day to complete and includes a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty.
