Crawl Space Winterization in Erieau, ON

Challenge

Many believe that winterizing a crawl space is only beneficial to a home during the cold winter months we experience here in southwestern Ontario - that’s not true!

So often we visit homes with crawl spaces which are exposed to the outside elements. This happens in numerous ways: 

• Unsealed vents

• Unsealed access doors

• Poor or non-existent insulation on their exterior walls

• Unsealed floors and supports

All of these factors create unhealthy conditions in the crawl space year round!

Solution

When we encapsulate a crawl space, we seal it off entirely from the outside environment, which regulates the humidity and ceases the seasonal fluctuations which cause the problems. We:

• Installed our Clean Space® Vapour Barrier, sealing the crawl space from the dampness below 

• We sealed the exterior vents and access doors

• Added Spray Foam Insulation to some exterior walls, sealing it to the newly installed vapour barrier. 

Sealed, healthy, dry and more energy efficient… for years to come!
