State-of-the-Art Repair Option for Foundation Challenges

These homeowners in Elgin County had foundation problems which were starting to affect their entire home. The cracking and shifting foundation was causing cracks in the drywall, gaps between walls and floors and ceilings and walls as well as hard to open windows and doors. 

If left unchecked, these problems would not only continue but worsen over time, affecting windows, doors, framing and even ultimately leading to foundation failure: rendering the home unsafe for living.  

Solution

At Advanced Basement Systems, we were happy to offer them a state-of-the-art solution for bowing and cracking foundation walls: The CarbonArmour® Wall Reinforcing System. 

The CarbonArmour® Wall Reinforcing System utilizes a similar technology used to reinforce bomb shelters, skyscrapers, and bridges. Here’s the process: 

Flexible carbon fibre straps (up to 10 times stronger in tension than steel!) are attached to the rim joist of the home, then bonded to the interior face of the problematic foundation wall using a high-strength epoxy resin.

The straps effectively stabilize the wall, requiring no exterior excavation. The system installs quickly and allows for the basement to be finished in the future.
