A Potentially Deadly Danger in Your Home
November is Radon Awareness Month in Canada and here are some important facts you need to know.
- Radon is a naturally occurring odourless, colourless gas.
- The only way to know if your home has an unsafe level of radon is to test for it.
- Radon is responsible for 13% of all lung cancer deaths in Ontario – which is approximately 850 Ontarians each year.[1]
- Health Canada reports that 1 in 20 homes in Ontario homes contain hazardous levels of radon.
- The Windsor Star recently reported that the Windsor – Essex area has even higher than average radon levels.
Radon levels are diluted when we open our home’s windows, that is why now, as we close our homes against the colder weather, is the perfect time to test for radon.
