Radon facts:

-         Exposure to Radon can cause lung cancer.

-         Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in North America.

Why?

Children are more sensitive because their lungs are smaller, and their respiratory rates are twice as high. Doctors say, by the age of 10, a child receives twice the lung dose of Radon than an adult does that has been exposed for the same length of time.

How does Radon enter your home?

Radon comes into your home through any tiny space that comes into contact with soil that contains Radon or through groundwater. Radon can be anywhere, but it matters how much is present in relation to the other air. 

Radon is everywhere in southwestern Ontario and even if your neighbour who lives in a similar home did not have a high reading, the only way to know if your home contains Radon is to test for it.
