Photo Album: Leaking Basement and Bowing Wall Fix in Windsor, ON
Challenge: These homeowners grew accustomed to the problems as a result of their wet, leaky basement: bad smells, high humidity, mould and mildew growth and occasionally having their stored items ruined during times of heavy rain. They noticed a horizontal and step cracks on two of their exterior block concrete walls, but once the walls began to bow inward and affect the home above (with difficult to open doors and windows, wall and ceiling cracks), they knew they had to take action.
Solution: After a thorough inspection, our team came up with a plan. We waterproofed the leaky exterior walls with an in-floor drain, which is connected to the home’s sump pump system. The “shiny walls” that you see acts as a vapour barrier for moisture and as a radiant barrier, reflecting heat back into the home.
On the bowing walls, we installed our PowerBrace™ Wall Restoration System. This I-beam system allows for wall stabilization without any exterior digging. By design, it not only stabilizes bowing walls but also may allow for wall straightening over a period of time.
This home is now healthy and safe!
Horizontal crack
Leaky basement walls with horizontal cracks equal a wet basement and a structurally unsound home.
A failing foundation
The wall with the step cracks is beginning to bow inward. If left unchecked, it would result in complete foundation failure.
Structurally sound and waterproofed
We waterproofed the leaky walls and then installed the PowerBrace System to help stop the inward bowing and stabilize the structure.
