Photo Album: Two Leaky Basement Walls Equals Many Problems
Challenge: Sometimes a leaky basement can happen for a good length of time before the problem becomes apparent. In this home London home, a finished basement bedroom began to smell musty and damp. As the leaking continued over time, the carpet was saturated during times of heavy rains and the drywall began to show signs of water damage as well.
In the other room, the leaking was more apparent, affecting the floor and paneling on the walls.
Advanced Basement Systems to the rescue!
Solution: Based on the thorough examination by our inspector, it was recommended that a more powerful, yet efficient sump pump be installed and it to be relocated to an area of the basement which made more sense for moving water up, out and away from the home.
Our team installed an in-floor drain to direct any leaking into the sump pump. We also covered the problematic foundation walls with our ThermalDry® Basement Radiant Wall Barrier, it not only directs any water into the newly installed in-floor drain but also reflects heat back into the home, saving on energy bills.
