Updates to Help Protect Against Flooding in Tecumseh, ON
Challenge
In recent years, many areas in southwestern Ontario have experienced huge amounts of rainfall, creating an overworked municipal sewage system, resulting in basement flooding for homeowners.
Much like hundreds of others, these homeowners in Tecumseh experienced a devastating basement flood when record amounts of rainfall overtaxed the municipal systems.
These homeowners needed the best solution available to stop a problem which exists much beyond their control - at the municipal level.
This home is an example of how several of our products work together to help prevent future basement flooding.
Solution
Their older sump pump simply didn’t have the power to keep up during times of heavy rainfall.
The new “TripleSafe” sump pump system offers many layers of protection against heavy rainfall, and these homeowners also wisely choose to install a battery backup so that the system will work even during a power outage.
We also installed a backwater sanitary valve. These devices are designed to allow water to flow in only one direction: away from a home. The “check valves” or “backwater valves” can help decrease the risk of sewage backup when installed and maintained properly.
Our team also installed the IceGuard® System. This is a uniquely engineered fitting connected on the outside of a home which automatically ejects excess water away from the when either the discharge line freezes (in houses with shallowly buried discharge lines to the lawn.) or in this case when the municipal sanitary system just can’t accept more water.
With a careful analysis of this home’s unique challenge, we developed the best solution to help these homeowners protect their basement from flooding.
