Waterproofing and Finishing a Leaky Basement in Sarnia, ON

Challenge

These Lambton County homeowners had a wet basement. This leaky space not only affected the health of their home with high humidity, damp, musty smells but also affected their enjoyment of their home - All their furniture, appliances, possessions and stored items had to keep off the floor or in plastic containers. They constantly had dehumidifiers and fans running in an attempt to dry out the space - to no avail! 

These homeowners were tired of their wet basement. They wanted a permanent solution and we were so happy that they chose the Advanced Basement Systems waterproofing system.

Solution

This home is an excellent example of how our products work together for a permanent solution for a wet basement.

We updated the sump pump system, installing the reliable and powerful ⅓  hp Cast-Iron Zoeller® sump pump.

Our team installed our Waterguard®️ System on the leaky walls. This system allows any leaky water to drain safely into the new sump pump system. This waterproofing system comes with a lifetime transferable warranty.

We removed the damaged drywall and wood wall studs. We replaced the studs with steel studs, and working with the newly installed Waterguard system, our ThermalDry® Basement Radiant Wall Barrier and our Everlast™ Wall Panels on the affected walls.

On the other walls, we installed The BrightWall® Rigid Basement Wall System. Both wall systems not only look fantastic, but they are also easy to clean and are inorganic, which will not support the growth of mould or mildew.

We finished off the project by installing the ThermalDry® Elite Plank Flooring which is made specifically for basement floors. Each plank sits on raised plastic pegs, allowing airspace underneath, and creating a comfortable, warm and dry floor.
