Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing a Storage and Workshop Area
Album description: These Windsor homeowners had an unfinished area in their basement which they used for storage and as a workshop for hobby projects. This part of the basement had leaked for years. The space was musty, cold and damp – which affected how the workshop was used and the musty smell and excess humidity made its way throughout the entire home.
These homeowners did not require a completely finished room, rather, a dry and more comfortable space.
We installed:
A perimeter drain on the leaking walls. This new drain will divert the water into the existing sump pump system.
ThermalDry® Basement Radiant Wall Barrier. This inorganic barrier will not allow for mould or mildew growth, and it serves two functions:
1) It helps divert any leaking water into the perimeter drain.
2) It's insulating and heat reflective qualities creates a more comfortable and energy efficient space, bouncing back up to 97% of heat back into the home.
Because the homeowners wanted to get more use of this space, they chose ThermalDry® Floor Tiles, which is an excellent way to create a warm, comfortable, and dry basement floor. Each tile sits on raised plastic pegs, creating an airspace underneath which allows for any water vapour to circulate and dry out underneath while creating a thermal break which makes the floor's surface 8-10 degrees (Fahrenheit) warmer than the cold concrete below.
Damaged Wall
There was evidence that the basement was leaking for years, if not decades.
