Fixing a wet basement
Challenge
These Windsor, Ontario homeowners had many problems in their basement. Repairs done previously had not fixed the basement leaks or the foundation walls which were beginning to bow.
Their basement was a structurally unsound, cold and wet space.
Solution
During our thorough inspection process, we determined that these homeowners could have a structurally sound, clean, healthy and dry space – a space which could be finished and used in the future without the fear of water damage.
These homeowners chose the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System. This powerful system provides three levels of protection with two high-performing pumps and a backup pump.
Our team installed a perimeter drain, our Waterguard system, on the leaky walls. This system allows water to drain safely into the new sump pump system.
Because this home is located in an area prone to sewer backup, these homeowners proactively installed a backwater check valve. These devices are designed to allow water to flow in only one direction: away from the home and can help decrease the risk of sewage backup when installed and maintained properly.
We installed our ThermalDry® Wall system. This product serves as both a vapour barrier and as a way to redirect water leaking through the basement walls into the newly installed floor drainage system. ThermalDry® Wall makes homes more comfortable and energy-efficient space. Its heat-reflective surface bounces up to 97% of the heat back into the home.
Finally, our team stabilized the bowing wall with the PowerBrace™ wall repair system. This patented foundation wall repair system is designed to stabilize failing basement walls and also allows for potential straightening over time.
